12-Week Process Group for Adults with Eating Disorders

February 13, 2014

Through the years, the effectiveness of group therapy as an adjunct to individual work in our eating disordered clients has proven to be invaluable!

In a safe environment, we identify, understand, and resolve the factors which contribute to eating disordered behavior. We use an interpersonal process group model, emphasizing openness, vulnerability, mutual respect, and trust. This group works to promote the development of healthy lifestyle and coping skills, interpersonal skills and boundaries, and the ability to embrace and work through emotions.

Discussion themes include a variety of topics, including:

  • Eating disorder recovery
  • Balancing work and home
  • Marriage
  • Divorce
  • Parenting
  • Careers
  • Aging
  • Caring for aging parents

This group is open to adult men and women who are currently being treated individually for an eating disorder. To help foster an atmosphere of cohesion and safety, participants are asked to commit to all 12 weekly sessions. Prior to joining group, all prospective participants are asked to complete a free 30-minute interview with the group facilitator to ensure that the group will be a good fit for you.
